About HS Blog
HS Blog was begun by Beverly Krueger as a better way to handle the homeschool news section at the Eclectic Homeschool Online. It became more than that as she realized the medium would allow so much more. So, now, in addition to a large dose of homeschool news with a modicum of commentary, the blog includes links to Cool Learning and other fun stuff. Sports is an important part of her younger son’s life, so you’ll also find running commentary on homeschool participation in extracurricular activities at local public schools.
Beverly is a homeschool mom of five, three graduated, two on their way. She’s homeschooled for 12 years. She’s the founder of the Eclectic Homeschool Online and EHO Lite (for homeschool beginners). The Eclectic Homeschool Online has been her work of love for the homeschool community for ten years. Of course, it wouldn’t have grown to its enormous size and depth of content without the help of many others along the way. Chief EHO helper has been Tammy Cardwell. Who also occasionally blogs here or at her personal blog From a Cluttered Desk
In addition to EHO, Beverly works as a web designer. Visit Eclectic Graphic &; Internet Design to see what’s she’s been up to in that area of her life. Recently, she and Tammy have formed an online publishing venture. Currently they have two information sites available: ChildrensPictureBooks.info and HowToHomeschool.info. ChildrensPictureBooks.info is an informational site to help parents, grandparents, and teachers find wonderful picture books for the children in their lives. HowToHomeschool.info is a homeschool site designed for those "just the facts, ma’am" kind of people who aren’t yet ready to think about relaxing because they have so many anxieties to deal with. HowToHomeschool.info was designed to help them answer the most pressing questions those new to homeschooling ask while giving them a gentle nudge toward a kinder, gentler definition of education. Four more informational websites are in development.
Beverly is a Christian attending the local Assembly of God church in Woodbridge, Virginia. She currently serves as a member of the choir. She’s also the computer help desk for friends and family. She’s a science fiction fan. Friday night is SciFi Friday at the Krueger house, where watching Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica are delayed only for NBA games. Pizza and sci fi! Oh, yeah! She’s currently rereading the entire Foreigner series by CJ Cherryh in preparation for the just published eighth volume in the series. It’s all language and cultural interface, which she finds fascinating.
